Calvary Chapel do Rio de Janeiro has been formed as a
fellowship of Christians under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
Our ultimate desire is to know Christ and to be modeled to His
image through the power of the Holy Spirit.
We are not a denominational church, nor are we against the
existence of denominations, but the exaggerated emphasis of
different doctrines that have caused division in the body of
Christ.
We believe that the only true foundation of Christian
fellowship is His love that is greater than any difference that
we may have, and without which we don't have the right to
call ourselves Christians.
As a church we have three ultimate goals:
GLORIFY GOD
Our main goal in ministry is to glorify God and worship Him
(
I Corinthians 10:31). We are determined to minister in the way
that honors and pleases Him the most. The Apostle Paul said,
"Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to
be well pleasing to Him." (
II Corinthians 5:9). Because of this
we look to the scriptures to provide a model and principle for
ministry that glorifies God.
EQUIPPING THE SAINTS
Our goal is to glorify God through the preparation of the saints.
Ephesians 4:11-16 shows us that the ministry of the church is to
equip Christians for the work and edify them in their faith in Christ
Jesus through the teaching of the word of God. Because of this
our church services are designed to teach Christians the Bible,
chapter by chapter, verse by verse. The result os this is
Christians growing in their knowledge and love of God,
becoming more fervent in their love for one another, having
more passion for their involvement in ministry, and forming a
deeper hunger for the study and application of the scriptures
for themselves.
REACHING THE LOST
Our goal is to glorify God through evangelism and worldwide
missions. Jesus ordered his disciples to go into all the world and
preach the gospel (
Mark 16:15) and make disciples of all the
nations (
Matthew 28:18-20). We are determined to reach this
lost and dying world with the good news of Jesus Christ (
Matthew 9:36-38 and
Romans 10:14-15). Our desire is that God
would cause us to see the lost people of this world in the same
way that He seems them. We trust in Him to move and strengthten
us, so that God's gospel would be known in this world.
